Accept him for who he is,
and not for who you hope
he'll become.
Love him for what he cannot
do, and not just for what he
does well.
Praise him for where he is
now, even if he hasn't arrived
at the destination that you
have marked for him.
Love him the way that you
longed to be loved when you
were a child.
Don't try to relive your
dreams through him.
Let him have his own dreams
and help him to achieve them.
