Anniversary, I Can Still Honor You
I did not hear you
screaming and I could not feel your
pain but I can honor you so you will not
have died in vain.
I can honor you with love for those
you’ll
never know
and I can feel for you the joy of
life when flowers grow.
I can unfurl my flag and hold the
gift of freedom dear knowing that you gave your life ~ a
price with many tears.
I can live my life on earth as God
would bid me try
so meeting you in Heaven I can look
you in the eye.
I did not hear you screaming and I
could not stop your pain
but I can better live my life so you’ve
not died in vain.
