He had left home early that morning. The
love of his life had not felt well last
night and gone to bed early. He did not
want to wake her. Each morning she was
always up first and in the kitchen
making coffee when he got up.
But this morning was different. He
wanted her to rest. He made his coffee,
ate a bowl of steaming oatmeal and out
the door he went.

The storm was forecast to be a really
bad one. Already sheets of ice lay on
the roads. He drove as carefully as he
could and soon he was at work.

She got up later that morning and took
her medicine. Her headache was worst
than last night. This flu was really
sweeping over her... and then all of a
sudden she felt such a sinking feeling
in her soul. A feeling of dread washed
over her. A feeling as if something bad
was about to happen...

She walked in the kitchen and saw the
entire kitchen had been cleaned, the
dishes put away and on the island was a
note... and beside it a bouquet of
purple pansies from the backyard.

"Honey,
Just know that as beautiful as these
flowers are,
they cannot touch the beauty of our love
and you.
Love,
Jim

She stood there looking at the flowers
and thanking God that he had given her
Jim.

Then the phone rang...
Honey, it's me. The roads are getting so
much worse. I let all the guys off early
and I am on my way home. Taking a
different route. It is raining so bad
and it is mixed with sleet. I can hardly
see the road. I love you. Be home soon."

She placed the phone on the island and
then she prayed. She knew the feeling
she had... the sinking feeling... the
feeling of dread...
She knelt down by the island and talked
to the One who is the only answer.
She asked Him to place angels around Jim
and to send him home safely. As a child,
she had read about the angels... and she
knew the God who sent them.
An hour passed and then another one...
and as she looked out the window, she
saw his headlights.
The door soon opened and into his arms
she ran.
"Honey,
You are never going to believe this...
but out on that road, I could not see
anything. A semi jackknifed right in
front of me and it was as if someone
just simply moved me right out of the
way... Strangest thing... Lord, I am so lucky!!"

She smiled at him and then looked deep
into his eyes...
"No, Jim... we are not lucky... we are
Blessed. For tonight God heard a wife's
prayer... and He sent the angels... and
now you are safely home"

They stood in the doorway for a long
time looking at each other and the night
sky.
As they closed the door, she heard Jim
whisper...
"Thanks, Lord for getting this old man
home again. And thanks for the angels
you sent in the middle of that storm."

Long after he had gone to sleep, she
thanked the Lord too for those angels...

Angels... sent from Heaven in the middle
of the storm. Ask Him... He will send
them for you too.

"And He will give His angels charge over
you..."
